NEC Africa is pleased to announce the appointment of Mercia Jennings as Country Manager of its recently-launched NEC Mauritius operation. Her strategic vision will drive NEC’s growth, innovation, and market presence in Mauritius and the broader Indian Ocean region. The focus will be on smart cities, public safety, and infrastructure development.
Jennings has been a client-facing technology specialist for the last twelve years, most recently as key account executive at NEC XON in South Africa. She has managed Key Accounts such as South Africa’s State Information Technology Agency and the Department of Higher Education. More recently she has represented NEC XON in the service provider industry with clients like Seacom, Vox Telecom and Frogfoot. Key projects she’s worked on include helping Seacom to build a WDM transmission and IP network in South Africa and East Africa, and helping Liquid Intelligent Technologies build Microsoft Data Centres in Johannesburg and Cape Town. “It’s time for new challenges,” says Jennings, “and I look forward to working in the enterprise space.” NEC XON Executive Vice President, Johann Coetzee, says Jennings will be key to NEC Mauritius becoming a major player driving digital transformation and technological innovation in Mauritius and the region. "She will drive our own growth by positioning NEC Mauritius to play a crucial role in Mauritius’ digital transformation," he explains. Putting Mauritius’ people first Indeed, NEC Mauritius has already made significant strides in contributing to the country's technological landscape. Jennings highlights the recent partnership with the Bank of Mauritius to help launch its Innovation Hub. "This platform will allow NEC to provide solutions in areas such as cybersecurity, financial innovation, and digital transformation, further expanding our footprint in the region." Jennings acknowledges current market challenges - particularly the need to establish trust and deliver consistent support. "It comes down to human relationships - and then building effective, reliable solutions. We’re investing in expanding our local capabilities, while aligning with NEC’s vision of ‘Co-creating Social Value’ to ensure that NEC Mauritius remains accessible and responsive to the market.” Jennings emphasises the importance of fostering professional development in her local team. By focusing on market-driven growth and cross-skilling her team, she will ensure that NEC Mauritius remains competitive in the country’s rapidly changing landscape. “By understanding what keeps our clients awake at night, we can leverage NEC's people and technology capabilities to help manage the complexity of doing business in the digital age." Jennings is committed to building those client relationships, enhancing brand visibility, and positioning NEC Mauritius as a trusted partner in delivering tailored technology solutions to Mauritian clients. Strong track record Her strong delivery record with NEC, coupled with experience across various sectors, positions her as the ideal leader to further NEC Mauritius' success. "My focus has always been on innovation and maintaining a client-first approach. I believe the unique solutions each of our business units offer, combined with the exceptional talent of our team, will allow us to make a significant impact on the island," she notes. Jennings aims to foster team growth and believes that strong leadership is rooted in collaboration and development. "Any leader’s strength lies in the team behind them, and with the expertise we have, I am dedicated to growing this workforce even further in Mauritius," she concludes. Leave a Reply. |
